It was a vibrant centre in the Gold Rush era, however both the POW camp with its strong Japanese and Italian history , the post WW11 Migrant camp, as well as the beautiful Japanese Gardens and of course Wyangla Dam recreation area, continue to bring many visitors to the town today.
